US Dead Pass 4,000 - Total wounded approaches 30,000

The number of United States military personnel killed in Iraq since the invasion five years ago has passed the 4,000 mark. A they have since May 2003, icasualties.org continues to track the US toll. The tally for US wounded now stands at 29,314.

The latest to die were four soldiers whose patrol vehicle was blown up by a bomb in southern Baghdad on Sunday. According to the BBC, insurgent attacks and US military operations left at least 47 people dead across Iraq on Sunday.
